It was an absolute dream getting to work with Slow Meadow on the music video for “Adorned in Ribbons.” Matt’s music has been such a big inspiration to me thru recent years. And “Adorned in Ribbons” is one of his best compositions to date!
I filmed these scenes in northern Washington State in the middle of August. And can’t get over how magical the landscape turned when the sun started to set. Alpenglow has become one of my favorite things that nature does up in the mountains.
A few months after “Adorned in Ribbons,” Matt reached out about a new project he was working on: a rework of a 10 year old song by Message to Bears. “Do you have any footage of birds flying?” Matt inquired. “As a matter of fact, I do,” I replied. =)
This footage was taken during my the first test flight of DJI’s new FPV drone. It was such a peaceful quiet day near Mount St Helens. This particular vantage point is just half an hour away from my new house in the Columbia River Gorge. And while I was flying, I managed to tail a raven for awhile! FPV drones are usually meant for racing & acrobatics, like a crazy rollercoaster ride in the air, but I can’t help but go at a slower more contemplative pace. Like this bird.
I’m very grateful that I was given the opportunity to visualize this beautiful rework for two artists that I’ve highly respected & been inspired by for years.
Slow Meadow is meditative music from ambient artist, Matt Kidd (Aural Method). Matt uses the guitar, piano, and synthesizers to compose minimalistic changes and arranges strings throughout each work. The songs weave in and out of substantial neoclassical "pop" arrangements to whimsical textural soundscapes. A mixture of obsessive planning and instinctive improv, Slow Meadow is the foreground and background of thought provoking leisure.
