SERIES: “Nox Aurumque” (naaks au'roomkwe, Latin for “Night and Gold”) is a new series of visuals that explores a light in the darkness. The name was inspired by a piece of choral music composed by Eric Whitacre with the same title.
“Spirit Rising”, the 3rd in this series, is a long exposure photograph of a unique, mossy landscape illuminated by the light on my drone with a starry night as the backdrop. The location is of both archeological and spiritual significance, as it was a sacred site used by the ancient Indigenous for vision quests; the exact location is hidden for its own protection. My hope is that this image of light shining in the darkness evokes a sense of mystery and wonder in the viewer.
